A hydraulic excavator attaches a bucket to achieve the
objectives for which it was designed, namely:
-
Exerting digging forces
-
Applying lifting powers
A poorly designed and
manufactured bucket affects the whole earthmoving process
and reduces productivity.
Choosing the right bucket is of paramount
importance!!

There are two types of digging forces:
-
The breakout force
-
The penetration force
When exerted on the cutting edge, the
breakout force prevents the bucket from rotating around
the pin of the arm by setting in motion the hydraulic cylinder.
The breakout force depends on:
-
the thrust of the hydraulic cylinder
-
the geometric features of the articulated
quadrilateral
-
the distance between the beam and the cutting
edge of the bucket
When exerted on the cutting edge and is
parallel to it, the penetration force prevents the
boom and the bucket from rotating by setting in motion the
penetration cylinder. If the thrusts of the hydraulic
penetration cylinder and of its lever arm are equal, the
penetration force depends on:
We have developed the ability to choose the
right parameters for our buckets, i.e. right distance between
the beam and the cutting edge and profiles, thus maximising
simultaneously the exert of the breakout force and of the
penetration force in good operating conditions. If these two
forces are too strong when the bucket is not in the right
position to dig, there is a decrease in penetration and digging
efficiency (fewer productivity for each litre of fuel).
Moreover, these two forces put high stress especially on the
linkages, on the front and on the cutting edge of the bucket. It
is difficult to detect it, but in most cases this stress results
in a local structural failure (linkages, cutting edge, teeth,
side plates, etc.).
Our production philosophy has always
consisted in manufacturing buckets with a very high penetration
efficiency, thus maximising their digging efficiency and their
wear life. No other company can ensure a similar degree of
reliability. Our efficiency and reliability is shown by the fact
that all our products are covered by a two year warranty
against structural failures. |
